Australia’s wildlife is in crisis. With the highest rate of mammalian extinction in the world, and as the only developed country considered a deforestation hotspot, urgent action is needed to protect the species and ecosystems that make our country unique.
That’s why WildArk and Re:wild have partnered with pay.com.au to launch the pay.com.au Nature Fund — a powerful new initiative designed to tackle the threats driving Australia’s biodiversity crisis and support the conservation of our most at-risk species.
Through this innovative partnership, customers can convert PayRewardsinto “Nature Points” and donate them directly to the Nature Fund. These contributions will support projects within WildArk’s Threatened Species Program, working across the country to safeguard species such as the Koala, Eastern Quoll, freshwater turtles, and even a newly discovered mammal species related to the hopping mouse.
Funds raised will go towards critical conservation work, including ecological surveys, habitat restoration, disease management, captive breeding, genetic management, and rewilding programs.
Freshwater Turtles – The 1 Million Turtles Project
A national initiative protecting and restoring Australia’s freshwater turtle populations through habitat restoration, nest protection, and fox management.
Koalas – Chlamydia Vaccination Research
Building on Currumbin Wildlife Hospital’s vaccination program to combat Chlamydia, one of the biggest threats to Koalas, and tracking the success of released individuals in the wild.
New Mammal Species – Discovery & Protection
Researching a newly identified mammal on Dambimangari Country in the Kimberley, to understand its ecology, distribution, and threats before it’s too late.
Eastern Quoll – Captive Breeding & Rewilding
Supporting the largest recovery program for Eastern Quolls in Australia, with breeding, genetic management, and safe-haven releases to boost populations.
Australasia’s biodiversity is in decline due to inadequate funding, ineffective laws, insufficient policies, and the exclusion of Traditional Custodians from their lands and decision-making. The conservation sector often struggles with competitive funding, making collaboration difficult.
Re:wild and WildArk believe the solution lies in radical collaboration. They are building alliances of on-the-ground partners in each priority landscape, backed by a coalition of funders committed to long-term impact. These landscape coalitions will not only scale conservation outcomes but also help individual organisations achieve their own goals.
