Global conservation organization WildArk, with committed support from Illuminarium Experiences, is pleased to announce the creation of The WILD Fund to support select conservation projects and wildlife organizations across Africa.
Illuminarium Experiences is a new breakthrough global experiential entertainment company which democratizes the world’s most amazing experiences. Illuminarium opens its doors in Atlanta on July 1, 2021 featuring WILD, the world’s first virtual safari which will be an interactive spectacle that showcases the beauty and splendor of some of the world’s most exotic African animals in their natural habitats. In WILD, visitors will be transported to Africa where they will embark on a day-long journey throughout different habitats and ecosystems.
After Atlanta, Illuminarium Experiences will open in Las Vegas and Miami in 2022, with other premier locations around the world to come. A portion of all ticket and merchandising revenue from the WILD spectacle will be donated to WildArk, which it will use to help protect the iconic species and their habitats highlighted in WILD.
Next to actually traveling to Africa on safari, the Illuminarium platform has an unparalleled ability to educate, engage, and excite consumers about African wildlife and ecosystems. “Most individuals will never have what is often a life transforming safari experience where one becomes emotionally connected to incredible African wildlife and cultures over the backdrop of majestic landscapes,” says John Hardman, chairman of WildArk. “During these trips is when local conservation organizations generate much of their operating support and it is our hope that we will similarly and more sustainably be able to connect WILD audiences to the community focused work of unheralded heroes who are protecting these important ecosystems, communities and wildlife every day.”
Leveraging the WildArk species-focused approach, WildArk will use The WILD Fund to support local organizations that employ holistic and community-based approaches to address the current threats to the Kenyan, Tanzanian and South African ecosystems and their wildlife, which include habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and the illegal wildlife trade. “Through this partnership, we are extremely excited about generating additional support for our mission, all while helping connect people to the wild in a fun and engaging way,” stated Mark and Sophie Hutchinson, founders of WildArk.
Alan Greenberg, CEO of Illuminarium, explained that “social impact is a core component of the Illuminarium model, and we are pleased to partner with WildArk to enhance our efforts to educate, inspire and support communities all around the world as we democratize extraordinary experiences for all.”
